ServiceMaster Brands relocating to Atlanta; move to result in local job cuts

After being sold by Terminix for $1.55 billion this past fall, ServiceMaster Brands, now owned by the private equity company Roark Capital, is relocating its headquarters to Atlanta.

"ServiceMaster Brands (SMB) has announced the relocation of company operations to Atlanta, Georgia, in order to better serve our franchisee network," a Roark spokesperson told the Memphis Business Journal in an email March 4.

Some employees will have the chance to relocate to Atlanta, where Roark is based, while others will continue to work remotely in Memphis.

The move will also result in job losses. SMB didn’t specify how many, though MBJ was told by multiple sources that number is at least 50.

Employee layoffs are expected to be completed by the end of the year, and the SMB spokesperson said the company plans to hire at least 50 additional staffers in Atlanta in the coming months.
